Grades 3,4,5: Think Big Ideas!

This interactive in-person assembly is Lowey’s signature talk. During our ~50 minutes together, kids learn how Disney, Nike, Google, and LEGO came to be, why entrepreneurship is important, and how to turn an idea into something that can change the world. Near the end, Lowey explains the important steps to writing a nonfiction book, what books are next, and holds Q&A for the kids and teachers. Students walk away excited, inspired, and believing in their own ideas. Note: students and teachers may pre-order books, which will all be signed and personalized with the students’ name.

This 30-minute Virtual Author Visit is a perfect introduction to entrepreneurship for younger grades. During our time together, Lowey introduces herself then reads her picture book Cookie Queen: How One Girl Started Tate’s Bake Shop. This is the inspiring true story of Kathleen King, an 11-year old girl who set out to create and sell the perfect chocolate chip cookie. There’s time for Q&A at the end and an inside peek into how to write a picture book. For an additional cost, we can arrange to have Tate’s Cookies sent to your class for all to enjoy! What grades are best for your author visit?
If you are looking for an in-person author visit, Lowey suggests that you host her for grades 3-5. If you are looking for a virtual author visit, Lowey offers 3 different virtual author visits options for grades K-2, grades 3-5, and grades 6-8.

Yes, virtual author visits are available, easy to schedule, and perfect for a single class or grade. Virtual author visits cost only $75 for 30 minutes. For an additional cost, we can arrange to have your students receive a signed and personalized book from Lowey! There are 3 options for virtual author visits, depending on your grade: K-2, 3-5, 6-8.

For in-person author visits, Lowey connects a Mac laptop to a projector/ screen with audio (HDMI is perfect). Plus, we request a microphone if it’s a large group.

All virtual author visits take place on Zoom or Google Meet.

Yes, Lowey personalizes every book that is purchased prior to her author visits. She can help coordinate book sales either through an independent book seller near you or through a bookstore near her in Illinois. All post-visit book sales must go through the bookstore near her in Illinois.
